I'le D'Oleron, France
A truly great place to visit, so many beaches and lovely villages to visit around the Island. The weather here is fantactic at the momment, so it's long hot sunny days of beaches and cycling to beaches and picnics , I think you get the picture... and here are a couple to show you.
The first is oyster fishing during mid morning at St.Trojans-les-Bains and the second is a lovely stretch of beach at L'Ille.
The Journey so far...
Internet access does not seem to be freely available, and by that I mean I’m not finding it very “free” or very “available”, but I guess that I’ve just not got into the swing of being in, or looking in, the right places at the right times. So this explains the sporadic reportage, ok!
We’ve visited some really great little places along the coast of Brittanny, Locmariaquer being one. An overnight stay, which turned into several, right beside the beach with wonderful sunsets and huge activity in the morning at low tide as the locals came to search for cockles. Armed with their buckets or wire baskets lined with seaweed if your a ‘lady’, rakes of various sizes and lengths and most essential, wellies, waders or full waterproof dungarees for the truly serious cocklers!
For anyone who has been to the Isles of Scilly, here is so reminiscent of St.Mary’s and Tresco, you could easily be on one of those beautiful islands as you look out across any one of the sandy bays here. It’s so quiet, although many of the houses are shuttered and there is only a little sign of local activity. Some of the few shops are making obvious preparations for the oncoming season, this is apparantly a popular spot for Parisiens to spend their weekends. It’s great here now though!!

6 1/2 days on French soil!
Have made it safely so far, from Cornish to French soil. The camper van is holding up to having two of us living aboard full time, mind you the glasses of red wine that were randomly distributed around the van last evening following an accident involving the opening of an over full overhead cupboard, was a matter of huge concern...much rapid cleaning took place. Rather sobering I must say.
Another gorgeous sunny day by the water along the Gulf du Morbihan, a highly recommended area to visit.
